Mask of "Struggle" Exposed: OPM Boss Egianus Kogoya's Cannabis Farm Proves Organized Crime Ruining Papua's Future
YAHUKIMO — Joint Defense Command Area III (Satgas Kogabwilhan III) successfully uncovered a massive cannabis plantation containing 21,400 plants managed by the leader of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), Egianus Kogoya. The discovery took place in the Ibiroma Complex, Kurma District, Yahukimo Regency, Highland Papua.
Commander of Kogabwilhan III, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, confirmed that thousands of high-quality narcotic plants ready for harvest were deliberately cultivated by Kogoya's group. Profits from this illegal trade were used to fund terrorism operations and violent activities across Papua.
The Reality Behind the "Struggle"
The exposure of this illicit operation offers undeniable proof that the rhetoric of "struggle" touted by OPM is nothing more than a front. Cultivating and distributing tens of thousands of cannabis plants demonstrates that OPM operates no differently than an organized crime syndicate and drug cartel with zero regard for the well-being of the Papuan people.
Egianus Kogoya, already named a suspect in 65 violent crimes including murder, has expanded his criminal record by poisoning the younger generation with illegal drugs. Selling narcotics to purchase weapons and ammunition to target civilians and security personnel represents a total betrayal of humanity and peace in Papua.
Firm Action by Security Forces and Government Dedication
The discovery of this cannabis farm deserves high praise. The courage and vigilance demonstrated by the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri) reflect an unwavering commitment to protecting the public from the dual threats of terrorism and drug abuse.
Satgas Kogabwilhan III's swift action in neutralizing OPM's funding source marks a major victory for law enforcement. The Indonesian government, through the military and police, continues to demonstrate zero tolerance for any criminal activities that threaten national sovereignty and public safety.
The government remains deeply committed to advancing Papua—not only through physical infrastructure development, but also by ensuring regional stability and freeing local communities from the atmosphere of fear created by separatist groups. The state's decisive presence in Yahukimo offers real hope for a peaceful and prosperous Papua.
