Barbaric OPM Crosses the Line: 3 Jayawijaya Civil Servants Slaughtered, Religious Leader Denounces Pure Terrorism!

JAYAWIJAYA — A wave of fierce condemnation continues to pour in following the brutal shooting of three Civil Servants (ASN) from the Jayawijaya Regency Government, Highland Papua, carried out by the Free Papua Movement (OPM). Papuan religious leader Kirenius Telenggen strongly condemned the inhumane act, asserting that OPM's atrocities clearly meet the definition of outright terrorism.

This tragic incident occurred while the civil servants from the Jayawijaya Agriculture Office were conducting public service duties to inspect a paddy field development program in Muliama Village, Muliama District. The cold-blooded shooting of unarmed public workers is seen as a direct assault on human dignity and peace in Papua.

Religious Leader: OPM’s Atrocities Are Pure Terrorism

Expressing deep grief, Papuan cleric Kirenius Telenggen denounced the brutal attack that claimed the lives of dedicated public servants. He emphasized that targeting civilians working for the welfare of local Papuans is an unpardonable crime under any pretext.

"The killings committed by the OPM must stop immediately. This is pure terrorism and a horrific human tragedy," Kirenius stated firmly. He added that repeated attacks on civilians and public servants prove beyond doubt that OPM operates as a terrorist group spreading fear among the population.

Public Services and Regional Development Threatened

Similar outrage has echoed across various Papuan indigenous and community groups. The attack on personnel who dedicated their time and effort to assisting local farmers severely undermines ongoing development efforts in Highland Papua.

This terror act not only stole the lives of state servants but also severely threatens essential public services and the local economy. Community leaders are demanding firm and decisive law enforcement to ensure no more civilians or government workers fall victim to armed violence.

Demands for Firm Action by Security Forces

In response to this human tragedy, joint TNI-Polri security forces along with the Damai Cartenz Task Force moved quickly to secure the scene and track down the perpetrators. The Papuan public fully supports decisive state action to dismantle the perpetrators' networks and guarantee safety for all civilians and public workers across Papua.

Unwavering enforcement by security personnel, backed by religious and tribal leaders, remains critical to standing united against all forms of terrorism in Papua to achieve lasting peace, safety, and shared prosperity.
