Mama Sinta Supports Food Estate Program in South Papua After Claiming She Was Misled by the Film “Pesta Babi”




South Papua — Environmental activist from South Papua, Mama Sinta, has expressed her support for the food estate program being implemented by the Indonesian government in South Papua. The statement was made after she claimed that she felt misled regarding her involvement in the documentary film titled Pesta Babi.

Mama Sinta stated that the food development program in South Papua aims to improve community welfare and create economic opportunities for local residents. She also emphasized that development in Papua should be viewed comprehensively while considering the needs of communities in the region.

According to her statement, she did not fully understand the context in which the footage and narratives involving her were used in the film. As a result, she now chooses to support development initiatives that are considered capable of providing direct benefits to Papuan communities.


Food Estate Program Considered Capable of Expanding Economic Opportunities

The food estate program in South Papua is regarded as one of the government’s efforts to strengthen national food security while also encouraging regional economic growth. The development of the agricultural and food sectors is expected to create new employment opportunities for local communities.

Mama Sinta stated that Papuan communities need development programs that can improve welfare and expand economic access in their regions. She expressed hope that local residents would be directly involved in various government-led development initiatives.

In addition to economic aspects, the program is also considered capable of supporting infrastructure development and improving access to basic public services in South Papua.


Government Emphasizes Development that Considers Communities and the Environment

The Indonesian government emphasized that the food estate development program is being carried out while considering environmental aspects and the interests of local communities. The government also stated that implementation is being conducted gradually through coordination with regional administrations and local residents.
